We are excited to announce the launch of Redeeming Hearts Live-in program for teen girls and young women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. The idea for the program was developed by founder Tonja Smith. Tonja discovered that while there are many programs teaching teen girls and young women how to prevent or terminate an unwanted pregnancy, there are few options for those who want to keep their child or offer them up for adoption.
When asked how this program will affect the lives of the girls Redeeming Hearts assists, Tonja explains; “for many of these girls there are few choices. Many are in low income neighborhoods, often in abusive situations with little or no support. Many are faced with hunger, and even homelessness. As you might expect, their outlook is one of public assistance, and in most cases this not only lasts their lifetime, but for the lifetime of their child.”
“I knew that if we could give these girls an opportunity to have a warm safe place to stay and the kind of emotional, and practical support that will give them hope and options, then we could make a difference at least for those we can assist.”
Redeeming Hearts is a registered 501(c)(3) charity and is fully funded by donations from compassionate individuals, churches and businesses. If you would like to find out more about the program, give Redeeming Hearts a call. “I personally talk with the people who want to help,” Tonja says, “I love seeing the faces of the individuals who offer support. In most cases the support they offer in the form of donations, time, or supplies, is the difference between a girl becoming lost in a cycle of poverty, or continuing her education and finding a way to support her child. I love to personally thank those who help for providing the support for those who need it most. They are real hero’s to me.”
The Redeeming Hearts facility will serve the Corona/Riverside community, although they will not turn away a girl in need, because of her geographic location. The program launched March 1st 2012 and will serve young women aged 18 and above. The program is in need of your support. If you would like to find out how you can help.
